One ballot, one coin, every day.
BALOT runs one public ballot per day. Anyone can propose a coin; wallets vote; at a fixed time the code reads the count, and the proposer of the winning candidate gets a short window to launch it on pump.fun.
The daily cycle (UTC)
| all day | Submissions and votes are open. A ballot is named by the date it closes. |
|---|---|
| 18:00 | Voting closes. The highest vote count wins; a tie goes to the earlier submission. A candidate needs at least one vote. |
| 18:00 to 18:30 | The winner's proposer may launch it, from the wallet that submitted it. |
| 18:30 to 19:00 | If the winner did not launch, the runner-up's proposer gets the same chance. |
| after | If nobody launched, the day ends with no coin, and the site says exactly that. |
A submission or vote sent after 18:00 goes onto the next day's ballot.
Submitting a candidate
- Name up to 32 characters, ticker of 1 to 6 letters or digits, an image (uploaded here and stored on IPFS, or a public https link), and a one-line description up to 120 characters.
- One submission per wallet per ballot, and one candidate per ticker per ballot. A submission cannot be edited.
- You sign a plain-text message with your wallet. It names the ballot date and carries a one-time nonce. The server checks the ed25519 signature, the date, and that the nonce was never used before. Signing is free; no transaction is sent.
Voting
- One vote per wallet per ballot, free, signed the same way. You can move your vote until 18:00 UTC; only your latest vote counts.
- A signed message expires after 10 minutes and works once. Replaying it, or using it for another day, is refused.
- The board updates live, ranked by votes, with each candidate's proposer wallet.
Anti-spam limits, stated openly
- A wallet needs at least 0.01 SOL, read from the chain, to vote or submit.
- Each IP address can make about 10 write requests per minute per action.
- One vote and one submission per wallet per day.
Sybil wallets are possible. Someone with many funded wallets can cast many votes. The limits above make that costlier, not impossible. The vote is a popularity signal, not a guarantee of anything.
No favourites
The winner is picked by code: highest vote count, ties to the earliest submission. Nobody at BALOT can add votes, change counts or choose a candidate. The only manual action is removal for breaking a numbered rule, only before the close, shown publicly on the board with the rule number.
Launching
- The proposer connects the same wallet (Phantom, Solflare or Backpack) during its window and sees a preview of exactly what was voted on.
- The server stores the image and metadata on IPFS, asks PumpPortal to build a pump.fun create transaction, checks every instruction in it (your wallet pays and is the creator; name, ticker and metadata match; only a first buy of this coin within your amount plus slippage; no token approvals or transfers to anyone else, apart from a fee of at most 1% of a first buy), and only then hands it to your wallet to sign. BALOT never sees a private key.
- After it lands, the server reads the transaction from Solana and records the launch only if it succeeded, was paid and signed by the proposer, created this mint through pump.fun with this candidate's metadata, and landed inside the window.
Fees
| BALOT fee | None. Not on submitting, voting or launching. |
|---|---|
| Voting and submitting | Free. A signature, not a transaction. |
| Launching | Paid by the proposer's wallet: Solana network fees and account rent, and whatever pump.fun charges for creating a coin. Your wallet shows the exact total before you sign. |
| Priority fee | 0.0005 SOL attached to the create transaction so it lands inside the window. |
| Optional first buy | Default 0, max 5 SOL. pump.fun's trading fee applies to it, and PumpPortal states a 0.5% fee on each trade it builds. Slippage allowed: 10%. |
What this is not
The ballot and everything pinned here is context. It does not set or move the price. Coins can go to zero. Nothing here promises returns, rewards or utility. Not financial advice.
